Surveying & Leveling

Surveying laboratory experience helps the students to deal with real engineering problems in surveying and mapping operations. Surveying laboratory is equipped with traditional and modern surveying and leveling equipments to carry out various field exercises. Surveying laboratory course also incorporate generation of the computer aided drawings with help of total station survey. Following exercises are being carried out under Surveying and Leveling Laboratory.
  • Chain and cross staff survey
  • Compass Survey
  • Chain and Compass survey
  • Plane Table survey
  • Simple and Differential Levelling
  • Theodolite Survey by Repetition and Reiteration method
  • Profile levelling and Cross sections for Roads
  • Setting of simple circular curve using Rankine’s Method
  • Contour Mapping
  • Computation of area from profile levelling and using Planimeter
  • Volume calculation from Cross section of Roads
  • Tacheometric Survey
  • Total Station and GPS Survey

Mechanics of solid laboratory

Solid mechanics is the branch of continuum mechanics that studies the behavior of solid materials, especially their motion and deformation under the action of forces, temperature changes, phase changes, and other external or internal agents.

Concrete Technology

This Laboratory facilitates many tests on fresh as well as hardened concrete. The relation between the theoretical design expectations and actual performance of the designed mix concrete is a very effective learning exercise which is being carried out in this Laboratory. Series of non destructive Tests are also being performed for diagnosis of quality of existing concrete structures.

Geotechnical Investigation

The Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory provides opportunity to acquire necessary skills for performing appropriate laboratory experiments on the soil samples to determine the physical and engineering properties of the samples using modern tools available in the lab. Students also get hand-on experience with the way of testing procedures, analyzing the tests results and using the results in preparing a technical soil report.  It also encourages the practical research activities in geotechnical engineering for students.
